a. Membership Screening Committee

Three organizations applied for the membership.

Nepal Ministry of Labor is accepted as an Associate Member on condition that they participate in the
16th APOSHO Conference.
Application from Pakistan Labor Federation (PLF) and Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
(IOSH) from the U. K. were suspended due to lack of documentation and remains to be decided
at the 16th Conference.
2 persons were nominated as Honorary members.
Jim Whiting, former Chairperson of National Safety Council of Australia
M. Nomiyama, former President of Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association
Dr. Soekarno, Honorary member from Indonesia was deceased.  

b. Constitution Review Committee

Not opened this time.

c. Technical Committee

KOSHA (formerly known as "Korea Industrial Safety Corporation") introduced the contents of
APOSHO homepage andrequested member countries to nominate each focal point.
Every committee members praised KOSHA for setting up the home page
and expressed their readiness to cooperate.

d. Occupational Health and Safety Management System Committee

NSCA will make draft OHSMS standards for the Asia-Pacific region and put them on the APOSHO
web site.
APOSHO members are expected to show their opinions on the APOSHO web site.

3. Annual General Meeting

The Minutes of the 14th APOSHO Conference were confirmed.
The results of 4 Committee Meetings were reported and approved.

Members reached consensus to establish Education and Training Committee
The Next APOSHO Conference venues were confirmed.
- The 16th APOSHO(2000) : Mauritius
- The 17th APOSHO(2001) : Taiwan
- The 18th APOSHO(2002) : Vietnam (decided at 15th APOSHO Conference)

4. Others

a. Most of APOSHO participants paid appreciation to KOSHA for the
establishment of APOSHO homepage.

Ms. Pia Markkanen, ILO representative, paid respect to KOSHA for enabling members
to communicate on network, mentioning that the establishment of APOSHO homepage would
contribute to the development of APOSHO.

b. Mauritius, the next host country, reminded members of the following
deadlines with regard to the participation in the 16th APOSHO Conference
from 25th April to 28th April 2000.
Application deadline : 20 December 1999
Application for Parallel Session and submission of abstract : 15 January 2000
Deadline for submission of full paper of Parallel Session: 20 February 2000.

c. AHSM, Association of Health & Safety Managers was renamed to IOSHM,
institution of Occupational Safety & Health Management.
